How does a baby registry work?

A baby registry is a list of baby products from a particular store or baby site that you liked to stock up before the arrival of the baby. You can add whatever you like into the baby registry from the smallest item to the bigger one like a stroller, crib, car seat, and a lot more. This ensures that the new parents get all the much-needed items to welcome their new addition to the family. This baby registry is mostly organized by stores and can be organized online or a physical registry. Some organizers also allow you to combine products from different retailers.

Many baby registries also provide you with extra perks free returns, price matching, a welcome box of freebies, extra discount on completion, and gift trackers, or an app that helps you monitor your baby registry.

When to create a baby registry?

There is no time to start creating a baby registry. But, most of the moms start looking for a baby registry around 12 weeks time. First of all, there is no need that everything you want for the baby should be always new. Your immediate family or friends might be having some of the expensive things that you need for the baby and are more than happy to lend it to you. So, instead of spending a lot on those things please except the offer from your friends and family. Also, here is the list of things that you should not include in your baby registry

  • High priced furnishing and decor
  • Wipe warmers
  • Baby shoes
  • Baby food kit
  • Diapers
  • Nice bedding set

High priced furnishing and decor

It is not until your baby becomes six to seven months old that he or she will start noticing the different colors and decorations. So, definitely this is not the item that you should include in your baby registry.

Wipe warmers

Many companies producing wipes will say that a wipe that is warmed at 80 degrees is the best for your baby. But, do you think that baby’s care for anything other than a clean butt area. Wipes that are at a room temperature are completely fine along with the use of an anti-rash cream.

Baby shoes

A cute little pair of shoes are really nice to look at. But, you may not need them for a long period of time. The baby may not need the shoes till the time he or she  starts walking. Also, the baby’s grow really soon and may out grow the show size soon.

Baby food kit

Making the baby food is no rocket science and it does not require 10 to 15 different ingredients and long hours of cooking. So, you will just have to put your culinary skills at rest for now and do not need the baby food kit.

Diapers

Putting diapers on your baby registry list is a big no. Until, the baby is born you may not know what brandof diaper will suit the baby and which size to buy.

Nice bedding set

Other than the crib side fittings, the cute blankets and sheets are not recommended by the doctor due to the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) occuring in the crib. So, there is no use that you include that in your baby registry list.

All and all your baby registry should be well-planned and well thought of. It should not cost a ton of money for the relatives and also should be useful to you.
