Recipe of mixed fruit jam for kids

It is vacation time and the kids are at home. Kids have peculiar taste and sometimes they are really picky eaters. Sometimes it becomes really difficult for mother’s to feed even a morsel of food to the kids. They want food that they feel is tasty and like to eat. Lot of times the kids want to eat a lot of sweet items which we feel is not good for them. We have already discussed what kind of foods to be given to infants. But older kids also like variety. Kids demand for and like to eat outside tomato ketch ups, jams and other things. Then why not make these items for them at home. The kids will be very happy and happily eat it with chapati, bread and other things. Today I am discussing with you the recipe of mixed fruit jam.

Recipe of mixed fruit jam

In the mixed fruit jam, you can take any fruits you like. Here I have taken apples, pear and raw mangoes. In this way you can give fruits to the kids and this jam is home made so there is no tension for the added preservatives, artificial flavors and food colour.

  • 5 to 6 apples
  • 2 to 3 pears
  • 2 raw mangoes
  • 1 bowl sugar
  • 1 small lemon

Recipe

  1. Wash all the fruits. Peel the skin of and wash them properly. Then cut them into coarse pieces. Here I am using pressure cooker to prepare the jam.

  2. Take the pressure cooker. Put a stand in it. Fill it with water till the stand gets immersed.
  3. Put the container filled with cut fruits in the pressure cooker on top of the stand.

  4. Close the lid of the pressure cooker. Put the whistle on the cooker.
  5. Cook at fast flame till the first whistle. Then slow the gas flame.
  6. Cook it for ten more minutes and then turn off the gas.
  7. Let the cooker cool down, then open it.

  8. Transfer it into another pot. Add a bowl of sugar then cook it on a slow flame till all the excess water burns.

  9. Squeeze lemon juice and add about half spoon to the jam. Lemon juice acts as preservative
  10. Let it cool down. Feel it in a glass jar and refrigerate.

This jam is without any added chemical preservatives, flavor or food colour and is totally organic. Your kid can have it any time. And the kid will enjoy it greatly.
